Training

I am obviously trying to get as much time on the bike as possible. I have an indoor Wahoo Kickr Core attached to my other bike and have the Zwift software, so am able to ride when the weather is lousy and/or cold. The best thing however is getting outside riding on my Fuji. Fortunately, Williamsburg Area Bicyclists (WAB) has alot of rides normally during the week and now that I am retired (since 3 January) I have been able to pick up the pace riding during the week. Their rides are typically ~30 miles and usually there is one Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings starting at 10 AM. I am trying to get to ~200 miles/week total – indoors and outdoors. For the outdoor riding, there are unfortunately not alot of hills around here in Williamsburg, but I did find a good stretch by the York River (Croakers Lane) that is a mile long and around 160 feet of elevation gain. I am using that for hill repeats. On the indoor trainer, I am following a winter training regime put together by Zwift, working alot on endurance 2 hour rides and interval training at high energy output.

In addition to riding, I am swimming 1000 yards twice a week and then doing weight training/aerobic stair-climbing twice a week. Trying also to get 1 to 2 runs in each week, of 3-6 miles. Trying to keep my weight at 157 pounds. I am going heavy on protein, fruits and vegetables and carbs- in other words- everything! It seems like I can eat as much as I want at this point!
