Day 11 Week 2, Wednesday 30 April 2025

We went from Wheeling West Virginia to Seneca Lake Park in Ohio today.  60 miles and 3800 ft of elevation gain. Ugh!  It was as advertised- rolling hills all the way- up and down, up and down.  It was the perfect day for it however- started off cool, in the low 60s and getting into the low 70s later in the ride- not much wind, clear and sunny.  I tell you, I am glad I am not lugging around all my camping gear- we had some pretty steep grades, several around 10% and one to 16%!  But while strenuous, it was doable- I am definitely getting my biking legs. This is a good practice for the Rocky Mountains later on.   We stopped at Barnesville for lunch, about 35 miles in, and Tim, Than and I got in to camp around 1:30. So a fast ride.   We have a great camping site on Seneca Lake, right on the lake. It is still calm and sunny, no rain in the forecast and we will be eating shortly.  Worked up quite the appetite.

It is actually quite nice being on the road now, because we are passing through all the small towns and getting a look at how people are living.  We can stop at a convenience store if we need to pick something up.  Drivers so far seem very considerate of bikers and give us a wide berth when they pass, which we all appreciate.
